The Skyliner, located in Whitkirk, Leeds, has swiftly become a cherished destination for fish and chips lovers. Customers rave about its exceptional gluten-free offerings, making it a haven for coeliacs, with dedicated equipment ensuring no cross-contamination. Paul Green’s experience highlights the attentive staff, like a manager who adjusted the awning for comfort, indicating a deep commitment to customer care.
But it's not just the gluten-free options that shine. Many patrons, like Sarah Smith, describe the haddock and chips as the best they've ever had—fabulous flavors that leave a lasting impression. The welcoming ambiance is amplified by friendly staff, with Ella, in particular, receiving accolades for her bubbly service. Whether you're seeking a cozy meal or a quick takeaway, Paul Skavydis's delight in traditional fish and chips underlines the restaurant's consistent excellence.
With a menu that also includes Northern Bloc ice cream for furry companions, The Skyliner attracts both locals and visitors. As Matthew noted, the quick service and exceptional quality make this establishment a must-try. Overall, The Skyliner perfectly balances high-quality food, welcoming service, and a dedication to dietary needs, making it a standout in the fish and chips scene.

Visited this place specifically because I had been told it did gluten free fish and chips, and it does them very well. For coeliac sufferers I can confirm that I had no ill effects and I heard the staff discussing using the gluten free equipment to avoid contamination. They offer other gluten free items on the menu and for those visiting the restaurant they even stock gluten free beer. The service was great even to the point of the manager adjusting the outside awning to keep us in shade just because he saw us move seats.

Dan and Ella were great, they went out of their way to help me with getting the Northern Bloc ice cream for the dog and as always the food was delicious!

We just moved in the area. Detriot Drive. Lovely walk to the restaurant. Everything was spot on from drinks to fisherman's dish. It's one of the best fish and chips I've been to! Superb! I love my traditional Friday fish and chips. I'll definitely be visiting every Friday for takeaway or eat in. Keep up the incredible work. Many thanks, Paul & Donna

As someone born and bred in Brighton — where fish and chips are practically a rite of passage — I don’t say this lightly: these were hands down the best I’ve ever had. Trust me, I’ve done the rounds. From the seafront staples to the tucked-away local favourites, I’ve had my fair share of flaky cod and soggy chips. But this place? Different league. The batter was next-level — golden, crisp, not a hint of grease, and somehow still light. The fish inside? Perfectly cooked, melt-in-your-mouth fresh. And the chips... chunky, fluffy on the inside with just the right crunch on the outside. None of that limp, sad business you get when someone skimps on the oil or timing. These were chips with conviction. If you’re anywhere nearby — or even if you’re not — go. You’ll ruin all other fish and chips for yourself, but it’ll be worth it.

!!It seems that today I tasted the most delicious fish with chips and curry sauce in the UK. Everything I had before this did not taste good. The fish was very tasty. I was also very pleasantly surprised by the service from the first seconds when I crossed the threshold of the restaurant. The seller behind the counter named Dan tells me the story of the founding of the restaurant in 1062 and kindly offered me a table, and the waiter Victor treated me very well, understood my not-so-perfect English from the first words, supported the conversation and told me the secret why the fish is so tasty. The place is clean. It doesn't smell strange. Victor wiped each table with disinfectant after customers. I don't see this often. One more thing - our order was brought to us very quickly, this is the first time I've been to such an establishment where they fry fish and chips so quickly. We were very satisfied and will come again. I'm glad I now know exactly where the food is delicious, clean and the staff are friendly to your customers. I took a photo and will post it on my Facebook page so the whole world knows where I think the best Fish and Chips in the UK are
